Better customs services in Shanghai FTZ

Shanghai’s pilot free trade zone today unveiled a raft of measures to improve customs service for high-technology companies in the zone, as part of an effort to support the city’s drive to become a world innovation center.

An air cargo service center will be set up in Zhangjiang High-Tech Park to provide one-stop customs service including delivery of import manifest, customs declaration and customs inspection, Shanghai Customs told a press conference today.

The proposed center will reduce customs clearance time to six to eight hours from the previous at least two working days, benefiting about 900 high-technology companies in Zhangjiang and neighboring areas, the customs authority said.

Other measures include introducing customized customs services, setting up bonded warehouses from small businesses and strengthening intellectual property protection.
