British Isle of Man hopes to attract Chinese enterprises
THE Isle of Man, served as an international offshore financial center, hopes to attract more Chinese investors and enterprises to make real investment in this island.
Steven Beevers, Head of Special Projects and Country Strategy at the Department of Economic Development of the Isle of Man, paid his visits to Kunming, Chongqing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Beijing in early November to meet government officials and business representatives for potential cooperation.
The Isle of Man, known as the gateway to the European Union, is located in the middle of the Irish Sea. As an offshore financial center, it is well know for its attractive low tax policy.
“At present, the Isle of Man is committed to the development of three major types of enterprises,” Steven said during his visit. “The first type is advanced manufacturing, while the other two sectors are financial services and wealth management companies as well as e-commerce presented by electronic digital industry and telecommunication.”
“In June this year, the Isle of Man and Zhongguancun Multimedia Creative Industry Park has signed a memorandum of cooperation trying to bring more Zhongguancun science and technology enterprises to the Isle of Man. This time, we visited Zhongguancun again and hope to further strengthen our cooperation.” Steven said.
On the government side, Isle of Man wants more people to come to build companies and hire people. The government is now at the final stage of the discussion with some science and technology innovation enterprises in Shanghai and Nanjing. Some enterprises are willing to set up their company in the Isle of Man and register European Patent for their products.
