Embraco is keen on new technology

REFRIGERATION compressors manufacturer Embraco said it seeks more revenue from variable-frequency compressors to adapt to China’s market changes and will continue to invest in new technologies.

Marcio Luiz Schisssatti, business and marketing vice president at Embraco, told an interview with Shanghai Daily at the ongoing Appliance & Electronics World Expo that the company will continue to invest in technology and product portfolio to meet the demand of Chinese manufacturers' shift towards variable-frequency refrigerators and freezers.

It will gradually shift its three manufacturing lines in its Beijing plant to offer more variable-frequency compressors for Chinese manufacturers for both domestic and overseas markets, without elaborating future investment plans.

Schisssatti expects about 30 to 40 percent of its sales revenue will be coming from variable-frequency compressors within two or three years compared to around 10 percent at the current level with more manufacturers also adopting new compressors to meet market demand.

"China is the perfect place for launch of new technologies," he said. The company has been upgrading its technology after it first established a joint venture called Embraco Snowflake Ltd Co in Beijing in 1995.

China's annual refrigerator manufacturing market is around 70 million sets, contributing to around 40 percent of the global market size.

"China's domestic market is more demanding as end consumers are becoming very sophisticated in terms of preserving fresh food and lower noise for their household refrigerators," he added.
