Filtration plant opens

PARKER Hannifin, a manufacture of motion and control technologies, started production at its filtration plant in Shanghai today to benefit from soaring demand amid government efforts to clean up the environment.
Parker Hannifin, the supplier for China's first regional jet and the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway, also said it is in talks with Chinese authorities about joining the country's first homemade jumbo jet project and the fast-expanding highway systems. The deals are expected to be closed by the end of this year, company officials told Shanghai Daily.
The new site is capable of producing 1 million sets of different filters with application in diesel engines, wind turbines and high-speed railways to reduce emissions, as well as three million key components of the filters. The combined production value is around US$100 million.
"Filtration is our fastest growing sector in China, which jumped 10 times in the past three years," said Michael Chung, president of the company's Asia Pacific Group. "It could jump five times more in the next three to five years as China acts to remove pollutions from diesel engine, heavy equipment manufacturing and trucks."
