Fujifilm says it鈥檚 changing manufacturing to help environment

FUJIFILM’S Chinese subsidiary said today in Shanghai that it is making changes in its manufacturing to benefit the environment in addition to its support of the Million Tree Project to reduce desertification in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Fujifilm (China) Investment Co announced it will reduce its carbon dioxide emissions in 2020 by 30 percent from 2005 levels.

In addition, the company, a unit of Japan-based Fujifilm Holdings Corp, said its energy consumption at a printer plant in China was reduced by 21 percent between 2009 and 2012 through improving technology and adopting energy-saving measures.

Company staff members have joined the non-governmental Shanghai Roots & Shoots organization and other volunteers from China and other countries to plant trees in Inner Mongolia Autonomous.

A book recording the stories of 40 people involved in the movement in Shanghai, Japan and Inner Mongolia has just been published to promote environmental protection among the public.
