HP kicks off on the path of 3D
HEWLETT-PACKARD Inc, the world's biggest printer vendor, officially started offering 3D printers and related services in China today.
HP plans to team up with local partners to establish 50 3D Printing centers in China, covering Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing, Chengdu and Guangzhou. It has found partners to offer materials and related services in China including a Sinopec subsidiary, HP said.
China will become a "front-runner" of 3D printing which represents the evolvement of advanced manufacturing. The new technology also fits in China's national strategy like Made in China 2025 to boost innovation and business transformation in the traditional industries.
The HP's new commercial 3D printing machine and services are going to "reinvent manufacturing" in Asia Pacific, delivering much higher speeds and lower costs while enabling on-demand and low-volume production, Ramon Pastor, HP's vice president of multi jet fusion 3D printing business.
HP, with major business on personal computer and printer, has already more than 400 patents on 3D printing with huge investment on research.
