Investors identify new target industries
Internet, health care, healthy real estate, intelligent robotics, online education, new energy and clean technology industry are among the new and promising fields for private equity investment, said representatives at the Shanghai International Private Equity Forum yesterday.
The forum aims to build a strategic platform for small and medium enterprises (SME) and investment companies, which have a certain influence and competitiveness in scientific and technological innovation.
“We hope to get attention from the capital market and also the public, pushing the development of scientific and technological innovation enterprises in Shanghai through the forum,” said Shi Derong, chairman of Shanghai Private Equity Association during his speech at the forum.
The forum was co-organized by Shanghai Private Equity Association, Shanghai Huangpu District People's Government and CEIBS Lujiazui Institute of International Finance.
This year, the forum focuses on ‘Entrepreneurship and Investment in the Era of Great Change’, which discusses and exchanges the hot spots in the field of equity investment.
During the discussion session, representatives discussed the hot and latest topics for private equity investment, including internet, medical and health industry and robotics.
“For internet, it consists of a wide range of specific industries, such as big data and AI, wearables and robotics, mobile software and services, VR & AR, cyber security and fintech,” said Xiong Minghua, the founder of Seven Seas Partners.
In the medical and health industry, big data and surgical robots are the key focus of investment right now. Also, robots and artificial intelligence have become the hottest spots especially in the recent month.
During yesterday's forum, 2016 list of 50 start-ups with potential for investment in Shanghai was officially released to the public.
