KLM’s new business cabin is eco-friendly

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will offer a new business-class cabin for flights to Shanghai starting from January 6. The new cabin features carpets made of recycled crew uniforms.

KLM began to redesign its business-class cabin last March with an emphasis on home-like comfort and environmental sustainability.

“The carpets contain recycled materials from our cabin crew uniforms and all our discarded carpets are recycled as well,” an official with the airline said.

The redesigned cabin features full-flat seats, 17-inch TV screens and new panel decorations, curtains, blankets and cushions. The seats can convert to a full-flat bed for sleeping.

KLM now flies to Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Hangzhou and Hong Kong. It merged with Air France in 2005.
