Medical zone at 3rd CIIE greatly expanded

The medical equipment and health-care products zone at the third China International Import Expo, to be held next month, will cover an overall exhibition area far bigger than the planned 60,000 square meters.

Nearly 340 exhibitors in the medical sector, including more than 70 Fortune Global 500 companies and industry leaders are bringing their advanced products and cutting-edge technologies for exhibition and trading at the third CIIE.

The section will display items such as drugs, medical equipment, elderly-care and rehabilitation products, nutrition dietary supplements and medical services, according to Wang Binjie, assistant general manager of the exhibition department of China International Import Expo Bureau.

A special zone for public health and pandemic prevention will be set up in the expo’s medical exhibition area, where a few companies will present advanced epidemic control products, technologies and services, including oxygen machines, ventilators, thermometers and face masks.

The subsection was planned to cover an exhibition area of 2,000 square meters. So far, a total of 48 companies have signed up for the special zone, covering an area of around 12,000 square meters.

Danaher Corp, which is taking part in the CIIE for the third year, will have the largest booth in the special zone, showcasing its solutions in fighting COVID-19. These spans from nucleic acid detection to hospital infection screening and critical disease monitoring, new drug research and development support and COVID drug and vaccine production.

The company is to sign nearly 20 agreements with clients, partners and government authorities at the expo.

German pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim will have a main booth and a second booth at the Public Health and Epidemic Prevention Exhibition Area.

Its main booth will cover 500 square meters, larger than last year’s, showcasing the company’s portfolio of innovative drugs and solutions across four business units, while the second booth will cover 100 square meters in the special zone, detailing its initiatives to fight COVID-19.

A special committee on public health and epidemic prevention will serve as a bridge between exhibitors and government departments.

Wang said work to attract exhibitors for the fourth CIIE is fully underway. The medical exhibition area has already signed agreements with a number of enterprises in the sector, he added.
