Michigan eager to enhance business with China

THE Michigan State of the United States expected to enhance trade of agricultural products with China to forge a closer business tie, said members of a delegation led by governor of Michigan Rick Snyder.

“Michigan has a diversified economy,” said Jamie Clover Adams, director with the state’s executive office of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. “We are strong in agriculture such as plantation of vegetable, apple, cherry, blueberry and nuts, and we hope to expand trade of these products to China.”

She noted in the past seven years, Michigan’s trade of agricultural products with China has increased ten times, making China the third largest trading partner of the state after Canada and Mexico.

Michigan is known for automobile manufacturing and agriculture. Also during the weekend, the state signed a memorandum of understanding with Shanghai International Automobile City Group to cooperate in autonomous interconnected vehicle research.
