More VR titles coming
CHINESE media and game firms plan to produce more virtual reality titles this year to woo consumers, industry officials said yesterday.
“VR production with immersive experience will make China-themed art and stories popular globally in 2017,” said James Fong, chief executive of Jaunt China, which has set up a US$100 million VR joint venture with SMG. More than 1,000 VR-featured mobile games were produced in 2016 globally. The number will be “at least five times” in 2017, with many coming from Chinese developers, said Allen Foo, founder and chief executive of UCCVR, a Shanghai-based fund.
