More collaboration among think tanks is urged

THE Think Tank Research Center (TTRC) of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS) today signed an agreement with the Think Tanks and Civil Society Program (TTCSP) of University of Pennsylvania to collaborate in think tank construction and related studies.

Partnered with the TTCSP, the TTRC of SASS expects to enhance cooperation with international counterparts as well as those of national and regional levels.

“Chinese think tanks should play a bigger role in help mapping out public polices of the country,” said Wang Ronghua, honorary chairman of TTRC of SASS, at the 2016 Shanghai Global Think Tank Forum.

“With more partnership, Chinese think tanks can grow faster to better fulfill its responsibility,” Wang said.

Also at the forum, TTRC of SASS signed an agreement with the Electric Power Planning and Engineering Institute for partnership, looking forward to expanding the research scope on technological think tanks.

China has seen various think tanks growing fast these days, some of which have military background and some of which are within educational institutions. From 2013, TTRC of SASS has  released annual report to analyze the development of think tanks in China.
