New US routes announced by Hainan Airlines

Hainan Airlines today announced two new routes from Shanghai to Boston and Seattle in the United States from June.
This is to tap into increasing demand locally for flights to North America, said airline officials.
A Boeing 787 Dreamliner will fly the Shanghai-Boston route three times a week, while the four flights between Shanghai and Seattle each week will be operated by Airbus A330 aircraft.
Hainan Airlines saw an opportunity with the new routes as an increasing number of tourists from Shanghai are travelling to the United States, said Li Xiang, the airline’s international marketing department director.
Currently, Hainan Airlines has routes to Seattle, Toronto, Chicago and Boston in North America.
It also announced a new route from Beijing to San Jose, California, from June.
In total, the airline has more than 600 routes to nearly 90 destinations in China and overseas.
Hainan Airlines also announced that it is it ranked the eighth safest airline among the world’s carriers based on its accident rate, according to German civil aviation accident date evaluation center the JACDEC.
It was the top ranked Chinese airline.
