Platform aims to help kids learn finance

Licaitong, Tencent’s asset management platform, intends to enhance Chinese children’s financial literacy by letting them play immersive games to improve their knowledge about wealth management, the company said.

As financial education is necessary in modern society, parents should encourage their children to gain basic knowledge of money as soon as possible, according to Liu Chunyan, a children show host.

In 2017, the People’s Bank of China unveiled a survey about the country’s consumer financial literacy and encouraged children to learn about financial matters as part of the national education system.

Schools also began to gradually integrate financial and business education as part of teaching. Primary and secondary schools in Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Shanghai as well as other cities offer courses related to economics and finance in a bid to cultivate students’ financial literacy.
