Private label fair opens tomorrow in Shanghai
TRADITIONAL retailers can cash in their good reputation and further differentiate, while private label is one option, experts said before the 2016 Shanghai Private Label Fair.
The fair is scheduled to open tomorrow at the Shanghai New International Expo Center, and will run through Friday.
“Private label is increasingly considered compulsory by retailers,” said Yao Zheng, secretary-general of Private Label Special Committee of Shanghai Licensing Association. “For retailers with good reputation, private label is easy and can help them survive in the fiercer competition facing challenges from e-commerce and more sophisticated consumer demand”
Yao added that food private label practice can in turn improve the reputation of retailers.
Private label products refer to brands that carry the name of retailers, especially supermarkets and hypermarkets. As the middlemen are eliminated, prices of private label products are very competitive.
The fair will see nearly 500 suppliers and manufacturers exhibiting their products for retailers to conduct private label.
