Pudong back to business after outbreak
Nearly 1,000 Pudong-based industrial enterprises with an annual income of 20 million yuan (US$2.84 million) and above have resumed operations, accounting for 66 percent of total output, according to Guan Xiaojun, deputy director of the Pudong New Area.
And 70 percent of e-commerce enterprises have resumed operations, providing important support for people鈥檚 livelihood during the epidemic, Guan said.
More than 85 percent of trade firms are also returning to work while 80 percent of the shopping malls and 40 supermarkets keep their doors open, he added.
The Pudong New Area has established portal screening, community prevention and control, and medical treatment to guard the 鈥渆ast gate鈥 of Shanghai.
A 24-hour standby task force is in charge of the coordination and contacts among Pudong International Airport, isolation observation points and designated hospitals, according to Guan.
It also provides on-site medical services and green channels for designated hospitals, and ensures that anyone requiring medical treatment will be picked up by an ambulance within 15 minutes, Guan said.
It is estimated that rent reduction in Pudong will amount to more than 1 billion yuan, benefiting about 8,000 enterprises, Guan indicated.
Although the nationwide fight against the novel coronavirus is far from over, Lingang has come through with new contracts.
Enterprises have reached agreements for 12 new industrial projects this year with the Lingang authority in the special area of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone with a total investment of more than 20 billion yuan.
The projects involve breakthroughs for long-standing bottlenecks, including battery management systems for new-energy vehicles and 5G applications.
