Rural, warm cities top of travel list
Over 70 percent of Chinese tourists are considering trips to rural locations and warmer places during the winter break, Airbnb said in its first report on the Chinese market.
More than 76 percent of respondents are seeking an 鈥渆scape to the countryside,鈥 while 71 percent 鈥渟nowbirds鈥 are keen to spend the winter in warmer places and southern coastal cities, according to the accommodation sharing platform鈥檚 2021 tourism trends report.
The report by Airbnb and Kantar surveyed 1,000 tourists in China. More than half of respondents want to travel four to six days in 2021, especially during the Spring Festival.
The findings echoed those surveyed by Shanghai-based Trip.com, which has reported a rebound in demand for domestic trips. Short-term rental is the top accommodation choice for many trips in 2021, Airbnb said.
Also, 64 percent of respondents are considering becoming 鈥渄igital nomads,鈥 working from anywhere or combining business trips with leisure, according to the report.
