Shanghai aims to lure 50 MNC headquarters this year
SHANGHAI aims to attract 50 more multinational companies to set up their regional headquarters in the city this year, the Shanghai Commerce Commission said today.
Forty-eight such regional headquarters were added in Shanghai last year, bringing the total to 353, as the city has been leveraging its international business links and unveiling favorable policies for foreign firms.
In one example, the city is working on a policy to extend the visas of expatriates working in recognized regional headquarters of multinational companies.
The city also targets a 13 percent increase in retail sales this year. Retail sales rose 12.3 percent to 677.7 billion yuan (US$107.6 billion) in 2011, the commission said.
