Shanghai residents earn and spend the most in Q1
SHANGHAI ranks the top in per capita disposable income among Chinese cities, hitting 15,841.08 yuan (US$2,300) in the first quarter of 2017, data from the statistics bureau showed.
Shanghai is followed by Beijing, Zhejiang Province, Jiangsu Province and Tianjin, whose per capita disposable income all exceeded 10,000 yuan.
The country’s average annual disposable income per capita stood at 7,184 yuan, a growth of 7.0 percent year on year. (adjusted for inflation)
Shanghai people also spent the most in the country in the first quarter with per capita personal consumption expenditures (PCE) reaching 10,165.88 yuan, the only place where PCE stood above 10,000 yuan.
China’s average PCE per capita in Q1 was 4,796 yuan, an annual increase of 6.2 percent after adjusting for inflation.
