Students from top schools join financial debate
POSTGRADUATE students from China's top universities have gathered at Shanghai Jiao Tong University this week to debate about the country's financial reform and innovation.
The event is organized by Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF), a school under Jiao Tong University. Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University as well as Jiao Tong University all sent their finance and economics students to compete in the debate.
More than 170 postgraduate students formed 21 teams to clash in arguments over China's capital market reform, interest rate liberalization, exchange rate reform, and financial product innovation.
The event is aimed at stimulating critical thinking of college students who will one day become the country's financial leaders and initiate new development in the country, said Wang Jiangze, dean of SAIF.
