Virtual meeting

THE first high-definition virtual meeting room in a hotel has appeared in Shanghai, which is likely to cut costs of business trips for firms, the project operators said yesterday.

The first on the Chinese mainland and eighth in the world, a studio for high-definition video conference is now available to the public in Shanghai at JW Marriott Tomorrow Square located on Nanjing Road W.

The studio is supported by AT&T and Cisco TelePresence, which features high-definition video, real time audio and interior design. The studio is available for hourly rental of US$500.

"This advanced technology allows us to touch and feel the realness of future meetings, and it helps clients save costs on business trips," said Michael Malik, general manager of the JW Marriott.
