Water projects
CHINA will increase the building of water conservation projects in the next five years to boost its capacity to handle floods and droughts, the government said in a statement on its website yesterday.
China will limit the use of underground water in some northern areas short of resources and divert supplies from the southern rivers, it said.
It aims to reduce losses caused by flooding to under 0.7 percent of its annual gross domestic product and cut drought-related losses to less than 1.1 percent of GDP by 2015, the government said.
