Zhong An leads global list of high-tech financial services providers
SIX Chinese companies made their way into the world’s top 100 high technology financial services companies with Zhong An Online Property and Casualty Co taking the leading place, according to a report by H2 Ventures and KPMG.
The number of Chinese firms jumped by five from last year, and the companies cover insurance, consumer financing, wealth management sales, and peer-to-peer lending platforms.
Zhong An, Qufenqi, and Lufax were Chinese companies with the highest rankings at the 1st, 4th, and 11th place. US-based health insurance company Oscar took the second place.
Founded in 2013 in Shanghai, ZhongAn Insurance was the first company in China to be issued an internet online insurance license.
The company is a joint venture between e-commerce giant Alibaba Group Holding, Internet giant Tencent Holdings and Ping An Insurance.
The company was awarded for utilizing big data technology to assist product design, automatic underwriting, auto claims, precision marketing and risk management.
H2 Ventures is an Australia-based venture capital firm specializing in funding innovative financial services start-ups.
Among the 100 companies on the list, 39 are based in the Americas, 39 in Europe and Africa, and 22 in the Asia and Pacific region.
