Another China Tie-Up
VOLKSWAGEN AG, which has already announced moves into ride-hailing and plans to become a major player in China’s new-energy vehicle market, yesterday signed a partnership agreement with Shouqi Group on mobility services.
The German automaker wants to invest in Shouqi’s GoFun, which provides ride-hailing and new-energy car sharing services, according to a memorandum of understanding signed at the Guangzhou auto show.
It follows similar plans with Didi Chuxing.
After sales moderated because of its emissions scandal, Volkswagen’s “Strategy 2025” places a key emphasis on China, the world’s largest auto market.
