Audi tops online luxury searches
AUDI was the most searched-for luxury brand in China at the end of last year as the surging market for high-end automobiles showed little sign of slowing, according to the World Luxury Index, an industry report released today.
Six of the top 10 luxury brands searched for online were cars -- with Audi followed by Porsche, Mercedes Benz and Lexus, the study from the Luxury Society and the Digital Luxury Group, which collects information from the biggest search engines, found.
Top among the other luxury brands searched for were Louis Vuitton, in third place and Chanel in fifth, followed by cosmetics brand Estee Lauder and fashion house Dior, the survey found.
The demand for Western brands over Asian is still overwhelming, with European names accounting for four out of five brands searched for.
However, Chow Tai Fook, the Hong Kong-based jeweler floated on the stockmarket last year, beat Cartier and Swarovski to be the most searched-for jewelry brand.
