Auto recalls

VOLVO and Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Co yesterday said they would recall 24,660 vehicles in China to fix problems that could pose safety risks.

The recall, which is set to begin on Monday, affects 4,559 imported XC60 T6 vehicles manufactured between November 20, 2009 and June 11 and 6,852 China-made S80L autos made between December 15 and July 15. A faulty wiring connector in the air bag system of the affected cars might prevent the front air bag from protecting the driver during a crash.

The recall also includes 13,249 China-made S80L models produced between February 23, 2009 and May 25, 2010 as faulty steering fluid hoses might leak fluid on the engine, potentially causing a fire.
