BMW sees firm China deliveries
GERMAN car producer BMW Group said yesterday that its sales grew strongly in China, its biggest market in Asia, in the first seven months of the year.
A total of 287,753 vehicles have been sold in the Chinese mainland from January to July, an annual rise of 8.5 percent, the automaker said.
In Asia, 56,819 vehicles were delivered to customers in July, up 7.9 percent, and contributing to a sales volume of 417,730 units.
BMW said its July sales hit a new record with 180,080 vehicles delivered to customers globally, up by 4 percent year on year. Its sales volume since January totaled 1,343,217 vehicles worldwide.
“While we see growth across our range, the fact that the planned production for our electric 7 Series, 3 Series and 2 Series Active Tourer models is already sold out this year demonstrates our strategy of rolling out electrification on all models is the right one,” said Ian Robertson, member of the board of management responsible for sales and marketing.
