Brose predicts 50% sales hike
GERMAN automotive supplier Brose expects Asia sales to rise by more 50 percent by 2015, as it adds capacity to meet demand.
The company, which makes electric drives, door systems and seat adjusters, announced during the Auto Shanghai 2013 show that regional sales could total 1.2 billion euros (US$1.57 billion) by 2015.
This is up from euro 780 million last year.
Brose plans to expand its Asian headquarters in Shanghai with a new 20,000 square meter housing complex currently being built to accommodate development and customer teams, a test center, labs and administration facilities.
Brose CEO Jurgen Otto said China's stable economic development, at 7 percent or around, is enough for the company's growth.
"If growth is too fast, it will cause problems in engineering and production," Otto said in an interview.
Sales in China could total 817 million euros this year after increasing about 20 percent to 760 million euros last year, he said.
Brose global sales rose 11 percent to 4.5 billion euros last year.
