Driving forward

VOLKSWAGEN AG yesterday said it sold nearly 10 percent more cars in October than it did the previous year as demand remained strong in China and the United States.

The company said the Volkswagen group, which also includes Audi, Skoda and Seat, sold 612,200 vehicles in October - up from 557,400 a year earlier.

That means sales over the first 10 months of this year rose 12.4 percent to 5.98 million.

Volkswagen said its sales in China were up 38.4 percent on an annual basis for the first 10 months at 1.65 million vehicles.
