Electric or hybrid choice
JAGUAR Land Rover said that it will offer an electric or hybrid version for all their new vehicles from 2020, according to a statement it released in London yesterday.
“We will introduce a portfolio of electrified products across our model range, embracing electric, plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid vehicles,” said Ralf Speth, chief executive officer of Jaguar Land Rover, the UK premium carmaker.
Speth said new-energy vehicles promise potential in social and health benefits and help tailpipe pollution so that the air may be cleaner.
The company’s move is a response to the UK government setting a date for banning diesel and petrol vehicles by 2040. Jaguar Land Rover said electrification of all of their new models will also give their customers more choice.
The announcement is an enhancement of the company's previous plan in November last year during which it said it would offer car buyers the option of electrification on 50 percent of all its new cars.
