Shanghai GM's sales soared 89 percent to 86,967 units in March while SAIC-GM-Wuling, GM's mini-commercial vehicle venture, sold 42.6 percent more vehicles at 129,489. FAW-GM, GM's new light duty truck joint venture, sold 13,200 vehicles.

For the first quarter of this year, GM sold 623,546 units in China, up 71.4 percent from the same period last year.
