GM Sees Record Cars Sold For 15th Month
GENERAL Motors Corp and its joint ventures reported March sales in China jumped 68 percent from a year earlier, joining several auto makers that have set new monthly sales record in the world's largest auto market.
GM and its flagship venture, Shanghai GM, sold a total of 230,048 vehicles in China last month, which represented the 15th consecutive month that the United States auto maker has set a record, the company said yesterday.
Shanghai GM's sales soared 89 percent to 86,967 units in March while SAIC-GM-Wuling, GM's mini-commercial vehicle venture, sold 42.6 percent more vehicles at 129,489. FAW-GM, GM's new light duty truck joint venture, sold 13,200 vehicles.
For the first quarter of this year, GM sold 623,546 units in China, up 71.4 percent from the same period last year.
