GM to recall 10,000 trucks, SUVs
GENERAL Motors Co. said yesterday that it is recalling more than 10,000 trucks and SUVs worldwide in two separate recalls involving transmission and steering defects, according to a report of Detnews.
GM said it is recalling 9,215 2011 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon vehicles that could roll away when shifted into park, and the recall covers 6,700 vehicles sold in the United States.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it "could result in a crash without prior warning."
GM said neither of the two recalls involved crashes or injuries, and that they had not received customer complaints yet regarding either defect.
The problem was discovered when a vehicle at a GM assembly plant wouldn't start, dealers will install new automatic transmission adjustment clips, according to GM.
In the second issue, GM is recalling 891 SUVs and trucks, including 739 in the United States, over loose steering bolts that could result in the joints separating, causing a complete loss of steering.
The recall includes 2011 Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe and GMC Yukon. Dealers will inspect the bolts to make sure they are properly tightened.
