Gallant grey is the latest trending color for cars, report says

AXALTA, one of the largest car coating companies in the world, unveiled a report today that shows color preference of car buyers and the latest trending color.
According to the report, different age groups demonstrate color preferences based on their lifestyles and aspirations. Young car buyers aged between 16 and 35 prefer bright colors such as red and yellow. Their decisions are easily influenced by social media and others’ opinions, the report said.
People aged between 36 and 55 tend to choose white, gray and black color. They also like brown, green and blue. These people are rising in their careers and seek the balance between work and life. They choose color based on their preference as well as their family needs.
People who are over 55 years old prefer luxury colors, such as black, white and grey. They also tend to buy an exclusive convertible or a luxury sport-utility vehicle (SUV) since they have strong purchase needs and budgets, according to the report.
“The report examines additional perspectives of consumer age groups, such as their ambitions, personalities and lifestyles. We look into what makes a particular generation tick, because these factors influence decisions when it comes to choosing an automotive style, brand and color,” said Nancy Lockhart, marketing manager of Axalta.
The company also forecasts that gallant grey is going to be the latest trending color this year. Gallant grey is a luxurious color enhanced with blue and silver flakes that provides a unique sparkle effect and dark undertones.
Axalta selected gallant grey after studying global preferences and using that data to pick a color to predict future trends. White and black maintained the top positions worldwide according to the company while gray is now tied with silver for third place.
