Vehicle imports dip
CHINA'S vehicle imports dropped 20.8 percent in January as demand contracted amid the slowing economy. About 23,500 vehicles were delivered to China in January, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said yesterday.
The imports also declined by 32.18 percent from a month earlier, reflecting the downward economy. Import value fell 11.68 percent to US$881 million from a year earlier, the association added. Mini buses suffered the biggest decline with a 77-percent drop in imports from a year earlier while gas-guzzling sport utility vehicles fell 13 percent year on year.
