PSA's new China plant

French car maker PSA Peugeot Citroen has started construction of a 300,000-units car-manufacturing plant on Chinese mainland.

The 6.4-billion yuan(US$985 million) facility, located in Wuhan in central China's Hubei Province, will be the third factory of its Chinese joint venture with China's Dongfeng Motor Corp, boosting its total capacity to 750,000 units in China by 2015.

Qiu Xiandong, executive deputy manger of the car maker, said the new plant will produce economic sedans and new energy vehicles. It will also launch models carrying its own nameplate as early as 2014.
