AB-InBev's first factory starts production
ANHEUSER-BUSCH InBev's first factory has begun production today in south China.
AB-InBev became the world's biggest brewer after InBev merged with Anheuser-Busch late last year.
The factory, Budweiser (Foshan) Brewing Co Ltd, an investment of 600 million yuan (US$87 million), is based in Foshan, Guangdong Province and will target South China and south-east Asian markets. In its first phase it will produce 260,000 tons of Budweiser and Harbin beer each year.
AB-InBev is cost cutting to fight the global economic slowdown, including selling parts of its business and cutting jobs. It recently sold part of its stake in China's Tsingtao Breweries to Japan's Asahi Breweries.
