Attacker bashed hand of Wahaha billionaire tycoon
The former richest man on the Chinese mainland had his four fingers broken in what appears to be a revenge attack last week, a Hong Kong newspaper revealed today.
Zong Qinghou, the beverage magnate and owner of Hangzhou Wahaha Group, suffered four fractured left-hand fingers in the attack near his home, the report said.
A medical expert said Zong’s injury would be healed and post-surgery exercise would help his fingers recover functions.
Zong topped a ranking of the 500 richest people on the Chinese mainland this March with 70 billion yuan (US$11.38 billion) in personal assets.
He was replaced this month by a 59-year-old real estate tycoon Wang Jianlin who the Hurun Research Institute said had a personal fortune of 135 billion yuan (US$22 billion).
