Carrefour unveils Shanghai food testing center

FRENCH retailer Carrefour said it has unveiled a new food testing center in Shanghai to step up food safety scrutiny amid rising consumer concerns.
The 5 million yuan (US$793,650) facility set up by the supermarket chain operator will carry out daily test across 65 food categories for indicators such as pesticide and additive residue.
The testing center will also collaborate with the local food and drug administration and Shanghai Ocean University for professional guidance and supervision.
This is the second testing center launched by Carrefour after a testing facility was put into use in Beijing.
