Consumer products sell better in Q2
SALES of fast moving consumer goods added 3.6 percent in the three months ended July 15, returning to a stable growth level after sluggish performance in the first quarter, a latest study shows.
Local retailers such as Sun-Art Group and Yonghui Group pushed expansion in the hypermarket channel, with sales volume adding 10.7 percent and 33.4 percent from the same period a year ago, market research firm Kantar Worldpanel said today.
Walmart still remains in the leading position with 6.4 percent market share, followed by Yonghui Group and Vanguard Group, thanks to their expansion efforts in the mid and western region.
Yonghui has been aggressively expanding its consumer base with new openings in western region, the survey shows.
Online shopping festival launched by JD.com also became the second largest promotion season for domestic online retailers apart from the Single's Day shopping spree, with online spending of fast moving consumer goods make up 5.5 percent of the total sales volume in the three-month period.
