‘Different tastes’
SHANGHAI established a council yesterday to coordinate the development of the city’s featured shopping areas.
The council, under the guidance of the Shanghai Commission of Commerce, will help land developers and operators to better design the growth of the city’s shopping areas and make them distinct from one another. “We need shopping areas to have Shanghai style but with different tastes,” said Wu Xingbao, vice chairman of the commerce commission. The council members include operators of Shanghai’s Xintiandi, Yuyuan Garden and Lujiazui.
