FMCG sales rebound 3.6%
SALES of fast moving consumer goods in China rose 3.6 percent in the three months ended July 15, after performing sluggishly in the prior three months, according to a latest study.
Sales in the hypermarket segment as a whole increased, with Sun-Art Group posting a 10.7 percent jump while Yonghui Group soared 33.4 percent from the same period a year ago, market research firm Kantar Worldpanel said yesterday.
Sun-Art Group, which operates the RT-Mart and Auchan brands, retained its leading rank with a 7.6-percent market share followed by Vanguard Group as both retailers expanded in the middle and western regions of the country.
Meanwhile online spending of fast-moving consumer goods made up 5.5 percent of the total sales volume in the quarter ending July 15.
