Fonterra bets on innovation
FONTERRA is eyeing big chance in China’s food catering business and it will provide innovative bakery or catering solutions as well as raw material for food and beverage makers.
Richard Allen, vice president of Anchor Food Professional told Shanghai Daily that Fonterra's current food services products and portfolio is well positioned to benefit from the rising of consumption of innovative and on-the-go beverage drinks.
Apart from serving western restaurants, bakeries and casual dining restaurants in China with dairy materials ranging from cream and cheese to butter, it also helps businesses with their product presentation, pricing, and promotions leveraging its consumer insights from the food and beverage sector.
According to market research firm NPD Group, bakery spending in second tier cities is growing two times as fast as in first tier cities.
"We would continue investment in the research and development perspective to make our products stand out and accumulate more knowhow on food solutions to help gain our market share," he added.
Backed by its existing product offerings, it hopes to make functional tweak to allow chefs to come up with new dishes.
Currently Bakery is the biggest sector for Anchor's corporate businesses while the application of cheese as a cooking is extending from just western kitchen to all kinds of caterers.
It is also using digital channels to get feedback from smaller customers and that interact with businesses of various scales from across the country.
