The Bankcard Consumption Confidence Index added 2.46 points from a year ago to 81.77 points, a poll by China UnionPay showed yesterday.

Restaurant and entertainment spending surged 54.5 percent from a month ago while expenditure on liquor and tobacco grew more than 1.2 times via the UnionPay network.

Transport spending on airline tickets and gas stations jumped 24.45 percent from that in August, with October usually a peak season for both domestic and overseas traveling.
