L’Oréal celebrates Citizen Day with volunteer action

L’oréAL China launched its 8th Citizen Day on June 16. Themed as “We are all citizens,” the annual volunteers’ event gathered more than 1,000 L’Oréal employees.

With L’Oréal China volunteers and Jing’an Beizhan community’s collaborated work, the community put on a brand new look with beautiful wall paintings.

On the same day, L’Oréal China also launched a recycling project to collect 500 kilograms of clothes, 1,000 toys and 1,000 books to help underprivileged families in poverty-stricken areas.

Since 2009, L’Oréal employees all over the world have devoted an entire working day to help local communities through various voluntary activities.

Over the past seven years, more than 7,000 L’Oréal China employees nationwide have taken part in various volunteer activities, benefiting over 32,000 people in need such as migrant children, the elderly, the disabled and people in poverty.

To celebrate L’Oréal’s 20th anniversary in China this year, L’Oréal launched Women Empowerment Fund in partnership with the China Women’s Development Foundation to select and finance 20 projects nationwide dedicated to empowering women mainly in education, environmental protection, and sustainability domains.

The top-three winners selected by both jury members and L’Oréal China employees were announced and rewarded during the Citizen Day ceremony.

“Citizen Day is not just an one-day event, but a continuous contribution to the society,” said Stéphane Rinderknech, CEO of L’Oréal China. “We hope that Citizen Day volunteer action could inspire and involve more participation. Together, let’s make the world more beautiful.”
