Lotus opens 'five-star' supermarket
LOTUS Supermarkets today opened what it calls a "five-star" supermarket in Pudong's Super Brand Mall in a bid to tap the country's increasing individual wealth.
Covering 11,800 square meters, the supermarket stocks more than 40,000 products, of which more than 40 percent are imported, as well as wines and fresh seafood.
"Lotus will actively expand the presence of such premier supermarkets in first and second tier cities to meet rising consumer demands," said officials from Lotus Supermarkets, whose parent is Charoen Pokphand Group, one of Thailand's biggest conglomerates,
Staff can help customers in English, Japanese, Thai, Chinese and sign language.
