Michael Kors flagship set for Shanghai
MICHAEL Kors has become the second brand to announce it will open a flagship store in the new Jing An Kerry Center luxury shopping mall, after British brand Paul Smith said earlier this week that it will return to Chinese mainland.
Accessories maker Michael Kors, which is still virtually unknown in China, plans to open 15 stores by the end of the year and more than 100 within three to five years.
It will open the 5,750 square foot flagship in Kerry Center on Nanjing Road W. in the spring 2013.
Led by country head Patrick Lee, who is credited with building the success of Christian Dior in China, the group plans to establish Michael Kors stores in first-tier cities of Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong and Taipei before foraying into China's second tier cities.
It will also launch an e-commerce website in China in late 2013 or early 2014.
