Net shopping grows
CHINA'S online retail shopping volume more than doubled in the first quarter as vendors stepped up their efforts to capture customers' spending, a latest report from a research firm showed.
Transaction volume at China's online retailers, which covers both B2C and C2C, boomed to 96 billion yuan (US$14.05 billion) in the first quarter, up an annual 102 percent, Beijing-based Analysys International said in a report yesterday.
Clothes and costumes made up 22.5 percent of the total transaction volume and consumer electronics contributed 17.5 percent of the total spending.
Traditional retailers are also sparing no efforts in attracting the younger generation that shops online, which contributed to the strong growth of the market, the report said.
