Plan for direct-selling store

AUTHORITIES are hoping to open a direct-selling store in Shanghai’s Jing’an District as part of a target to build the city into a global consumption hub.

The Jing’an Commercial Commission hopes to obtain the go-ahead for the store from Customs within five years. If the green light is given, the commission wants the first direct-selling store in the district to be sited on Nanjing Road W., one of the city’s top shopping streets.

“Several shopping malls on Nanjing Road W. have shown their intention to be part of the store,” said Li Xinmin, the commission’s deputy director.
