Plan to double sales
US-BASED auto parts maker BorgWarner aims to more than double its annual sales in China in five years by boosting local production and tapping the nation’s fast improving technology and growing demand. The company expects sales of US$3.2 billion in 2021, up from US$1.4 billion last year, as it will “add domestic production lines to rapidly respond to the local needs,” said Tom Tan, its president for China. BorgWarner will take in more local talent to understand better Chinese customers’ preferences and will use more local materials and components in the new plants as “China’s products have eminently improved in quality over the past years.”
