China posts surprise trade surplus in March

CHINA reported a trade surplus for the month of March.

That followed a deficit of US$31.5 billion in February, the largest gap in a decade.

In the latest month, exports rose 8.9 percent to US$165.6 billion. Imports gained 5.3 percent to US$160.3 billion, creating a trade surplus of US$5.3 billion,

Analysts had forecast a deficit of US$9 billion.
